Arriving into Scotland

By Air:
Nearest International Airports: Edinburgh and Newcastle.
An airport shuttle bus operates to Edinburgh city centre (journey time 25 minutes).
The metro train service operates between Newcastle Airport and Newcastle city centre (journey time 23 minutes).

By Rail:
Nearest Railway Stations: Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed.
The closest East Coast main line stations are Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed which link with bus services to Jedburgh. GNER services operate from London to Edinburgh (journey time 4 hours 30 minutes) and Virgin services between the Southwest, Midlands & Scotland stop here.

By Road:
If you plan to travel by car it is usually possible to leave it at the Guest House or Hotel at the start or end of your walk, for the duration of your holiday. We can check this for you when your booking is confirmed. The Canongate car park and the Glebe car park by the Abbey, also provide free long stay parking.

Getting to and from Jedburgh

There are regular First Group Borders bus services to and from Edinburgh, (journey time 2 hours) Berwick-upon-Tweed, (journey time 2 hours) and Newcastle (journey time 1 hour 30 minutes).

Train Tickets
Great savings can be made by buying your train tickets in advance through the Trainline website at
www.thetrainline.com. Although tickets can only be mailed to a UK address, overseas customers can still order tickets in advance and collect them from a Fast Ticket machine in the UK. Fast Ticket machines are located in most mainline railway stations.
