Arriving into Ireland
By Air:
There are a variety of airlines which fly to Ireland from the UK including Easyjet and Ryanair.
Nearest International Airport: Cork or Shannon and Kerry Regional Airport. Dublin Airport has the widest range of UK, European and trans-Atlantic flights.
Cork Airport (56 miles from Killarney) is served by a number of flights from the UK. Buses from the airport to the city centre run approximately every hour, where there are bus and train connections to Killarney (journey time approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).
Shannon Airport (53 miles from Killarney) is served by a number of flights from the UK. Buses from the airport to Limerick city centre (14 miles) run approximately every 2 hours, where there are bus and train connections to Killarney (journey time 2 hours 30 minutes). A taxi from Shannon Airport to Limerick city centre costs approximately 35 Euros.
Kerry Airport (9 miles from Killarney) is convenient for this holiday but it is only served by a small number of flights each day. Ryanair fly direct from London Stansted, Aer Arann fly direct from Manchester and Aer Lingus operate flights from Dublin. Take a taxi from Kerry Airport to Killarney. There are also direct bus services between Killarney and Kerry Airport.
Dublin Airport (199 miles from Killarney) has the widest range of UK, European and trans-Atlantic flights. The quickest (and potentially the cheapest) way to get from Dublin Airport to Killarney would be to take a connecting flight with Ryanair to Kerry Airport. It is highly advised to try and book a flight well in advance to guarantee the best fare if considering this option. Alternatively, take a train from Dublin’s Heuston station. The no.748 Airlink bus runs to the station approximately twice an hour (journey time 40 minutes). Train services then operate between Dublin and Killarney (journey time 3.5 hours).
By Rail:
Nearest Railway Station: Killarney train station.
There are services to Killarney from Dublin and Cork where one change is usually required at Mallow (journey time 3 hours 30 minutes from Dublin or 1 hours 30 minutes from Cork).
By Road:
If you plan to travel by car it is usually possible to leave it at the Guest House or Hotel at the start or end of your walk, for the duration of your holiday. We can check this for you when your booking is confirmed.
Taxi Service:
A transfer to / from Kerry Airport can be arranged for an additional cost. We’d be delighted to provide you with the contact details of taxi companies who offer this service.

If you wish to extend your walking holiday we would be delighted to arrange car hire for you. We offer great value, fully inclusive rates and ensure we arrange the right car to suit your needs.
