Arriving into Scotland

By Air:
Nearest International Airports: Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick.

An airport shuttle bus operates to Glasgow city centre (journey time 25 minutes).
A train service operates between Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Ardrossan (journey time 45 minutes) or alternatively it is a 20 minute taxi journey to the ferry terminal at Ardrossan.

By Rail:
Nearest Railway Station: Ardrossan Station.

The journey from London Euston to Glasgow Central Station takes approximately 5 hours 30 minutes and frequent services are also operated on the West Coast Mainline to Glasgow. Regular services run from Glasgow Central Station to Ardrossan & connect with the ferries.

By Road:
If you plan to travel by car it is usually possible to leave it at the Guest House or Hotel at the start or end of your walk, for the duration of your holiday. We can check this for you when your booking is confirmed.


Getting to Brodick, Isle of Arran

First Scotrail operates train services to Ardrossan and to other destinations around the country. Trains run regularly from Glasgow Central Station throughout the day, which connect with the ferries. Ferries are operated by Caledonian MacBrayne and the journey from Ardrossan to Brodick is 55 minutes.


Returning from Brodick, Isle of Arran

Return by ferry from Brodick to Ardrossan and connect with a train for your onward journey.

Train Tickets
Great savings can be made by buying your train tickets in advance through theTrainline website at
www.thetrainline.com. Although tickets can only be mailed to a UK address, overseas customers can still order tickets in advance and collect them from a Fast Ticket machine in the UK. Fast Ticket machines are located in most mainline railway stations.
