Getting to and returning from Tralee

Getting to the start and from the end of the walk at Tralee you can travel by all forms of public transport, as it is well linked.

If you are beginning your walk in Camp take a bus (journey time 20 minutes) or a taxi from Tralee.

Arriving into Ireland

By Air:
Nearest International Airport: Cork or Shannon and Kerry Regional Airport. Dublin Airport has the widest range of UK, European and trans-Atlantic flights.

Cork Airport (73 miles from Tralee) is served by a number of flights from the UK. Buses from the airport to the city centre run approximately every hour, where there are bus and train connections to Tralee (journey time approximately 2 hours).

Shannon Airport (77 miles from Tralee) is served by a number of flights from the UK. Buses from the airport to Limerick city centre (14 miles) run approximately every 2 hours, where there are bus and train connections to Tralee (journey time 3 hours). A taxi from Shannon Airport to Limerick city centre costs approximately 35 Euros.

Kerry Airport (11 miles from Tralee) is convenient for this holiday but it is only served by a small number of flights each day. Ryanair fly direct from London Stansted, Stobart Air fly direct from Manchester and Aer Lingus operate flights from Dublin. Take a taxi from Kerry Airport to Killarney for a train or bus to Tralee (30 minutes) or a taxi direct through to Tralee. There are also direct bus services between Tralee and Kerry Airport.

Dublin Airport (183 miles from Tralee) has the widest range of UK, European and trans-Atlantic flights. For the journey to Tralee take a train from Dublin’s Heuston Station. The No. 748 Airlink bus runs to the station approximately twice an hour (journey time 40 minutes). There are also train services from Dublin Airport to Tralee, via Limerick (journey time 5 hours).  

By Rail:
Nearest Railway Station: Tralee train station.
There are services to Tralee from Dublin and Cork where one change is usually required at Mallow (journey time 4 hours 15 minutes from Dublin or 2 hours 20 minutes from Cork).

By Road:
If you plan to travel by car it is usually possible to leave it at the Guest House or Hotel at the start or end of your walk, for the duration of your holiday. We can check this for you when your booking is confirmed.

Taxi Service:

A transfer to / from Kerry Airport can be arranged for an additional cost. We’d be delighted to provide you with the contact details of taxi companies who offer this service.
