Arriving into Scotland

By Air: 

Nearest International Airport: Aberdeen International Airport

Nearest Domestic Airport: Inverness Airport

By Rail: 

Nearest Railway Stations: Aberdeen and Inverness

There are regular services which travel from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen and Inverness (journey time 7 hours and 9 hours respectively).

Scotrail operate services from Edinburgh / Glasgow to Aberdeen and Inverness (journey time 3 – 4 hours).

By Bus:

There are regular Scottish Citylink coaches departing daily from Aberdeen and Inverness to various locations around Scotland.

By Road:

If you plan to travel by car it is usually possible to leave it at the guest house or hotel at the start or end of your walk for the duration of your walking holiday. We can check this for you when your booking is confirmed.


Travelling to and from Fochabers

By Rail:

Scotrail operate train services to Elgin from Inverness (journey time 40 minutes) and Aberdeen (journey time 1 hour 30 minutes). It is then a 25 minute bus journey (Stagecoach Route Number 35) or a 20 minute taxi journey from Elgin to Fochabers.

There are also bus services to Fochabers from Inverness (Stagecoach Route Number 10, via Elgin) and Aberdeen (Stagecoach Route number 10, approximate journey time 2 hours).

Train Tickets
Great savings can be made by buying your train tickets in advance through theTrainline website at Although tickets can only be mailed to a UK address, overseas customers can still order tickets in advance and collect them from a Fast Ticket machine in the UK. Fast Ticket machines are located in most mainline railway stations.
