Detailed Travel Information for the Speyside Way will be supplied in your Information Pack, but the following may help with your planning.

Arriving into Scotland

By Air:
Nearest International Airport: Aberdeen.
Nearest Domestic Airport: Aberdeen and Inverness.
Several domestic airlines fly daily into Inverness Airport.

By Rail:
Nearest Railway Stations: Aberdeen and Inverness Stations.
There are train services which travel from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen and Inverness (journey time 7 hours and 9 hours respectively). First Scotrail operate train services from Edinburgh/Glasgow to Aberdeen and Inverness and to other destinations around the country. There are usually 3- 5 services each day (journey time 3 – 4 hours). There are also regular Citylink coaches to Aberdeen and Inverness each day (journey time 3 hours 30 minutes).

By Road:
If you plan to travel by car it is usually possible to leave it at the Guest House or Hotel at the start or end of your walk, for the duration of your holiday. We can check this for you when your booking is confirmed.

Getting to Buckie

First Scotrail operate train services to Elgin from Inverness (journey time 40 minutes) and Aberdeen (journey time 1 hour 30 minutes). It is then a 50 minute bus journey (Route Number 35) or 20 minute taxi journey from Elgin to Buckie. There are also bus services to Buckie from Inverness (via Elgin) and Aberdeen (journey time 2 hours 30 minutes).

Returning from Aviemore

By Rail:
There are train services south to Glasgow and Edinburgh. There are usually 3 services per day and 1 on a Sunday (journey time 3 hours 15minutes).

By Bus:
There are regular Citylink bus services to Glasgow and Edinburgh (3 hours 30 minutes).

Train Tickets
Great savings can be made by buying your train tickets in advance through theTrainline website at
www.thetrainline.com. Although tickets can only be mailed to a UK address, overseas customers can still order tickets in advance and collect them from a Fast Ticket machine in the UK. Fast Ticket machines are located in most mainline railway stations.
